Funeral services for Jessie Mae Powell Martin, age 85 of Winnfield formerly of Olla, will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012 from the sanctuary of Standard Baptist Church in Olla with Bro. Shad Tibbs officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Olla.
Visitation will be Saturday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Olla from 5 PM to 9 PM then again Sunday at the funeral home from 9 AM until 12 PM.
Mrs. Martin was born on April 6, 1926 in Olla, LA to the union of Jesse M. Powell and Maudie McBroom Powell and went to reap her Heavenly rewards on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield.
She worked diligently as a homemaker and loving mother and was a member of Standard Baptist Church. Mrs. Martin was a prayer warrior for God who enjoyed visiting with people and witnessing to them about her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Boss J. "B.J." Martin, three sisters: Opal Starnes, Helen Young, Bobbie Mae Hendrix and three brothers: Jack Powell, Pat Powell and Bill Powell.
Survivors include her four daughters: Linda Hill, Rita Maxwell both of Olla, Sandy Livingston and husband, Tommy and Debbie Brown and husband, Jackie both of Loveland, CO, sister, Ann Mitchell of West Monroe, seven grandchildren: Paige Michele Sklavenitis, Stacy Renee Vedenti, Jessica Ayers, Glenn Avery, Alisha Bolyer, Joshua Livingston and Justin Brown, sixteen great-grandchildren: Christian Estis, Brittany Helton, Beth Tillman, Drew Tillman, Jacob Ayers, Reagan Avery, Ashley Avery, Tyler Avery, J.T. Avery, T.J. Bolyer, Carson Bolyer, Kimberly Bolyer, Maggie-Mae Livingston, Landen Livingston, Paige Timothy and Ty Timothy and five great-great-grandchildren: Catelyn Estis, Carly Estis, Cammie Estis, Lexie Gupton and Kinsley Helton, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Avery, Reagan Avery, Justin Brown, Josh Livingston, Jeff Bolyer and Jackie Coleman.
