Jerry Wayne Young

Funeral services for Jerry Wayne Young age 69, of Columbia will be held 1:00 PM Saturday January 13, 2024 from the Olla chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Clay Hutto officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Jena . The family will receive visitors on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Jerry Wayne Young was born on November 4, 1954 at Urania, LA to the union of his parents, Clarence Robert Young and Mary Jenkins Young. He passed from this life on Thursday , January 11, 2024 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia following an extended illness.

Jerry Wayne was a retired Electrician/ Journeyman with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. He was a member of the Urania Pentecostal Church where he served faithfully and spent his spare time keeping up the grounds of the church. His family and his church family was his life. Jerry was strong as an Oak Tree and he stood for every thing he believed in.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Dena Young of Winnfield; his son, Terry Young (Jennifer) of Jonesboro; two sisters, Rhonda Ewing and Pam Young both of Tullos; and his grandson Michael Young.

Pallbearers include Logan Hinton, Tyrell Hinton, Mario Garcia, Aaron Rodriguez, Alonzo Rodriguez and Curtis McNaughton.
