Funeral services for Jerry Douglas Powe, SR age 88 of Grayson will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday March 7, 2023 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Lane McClanahan officiating. Son, Jerry Douglas Powe, JR will deliver Eulogy. Interment will follow in the Holum Cemetery at Grayson. The Powe Family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia, LA.
Jerry Douglas Powe, SR was born on December 27, 1934 at Jena, LA to the union of his late parents, Batiste Moran Powe and Mathilda Roselee Enterkin Powe. He passed from this life suddenly on March 4, 2023 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia.
Mr. Powe was a Veteran of the United States Army having served from September 18, 1957 to September 10, 1959. He also retired with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development having served twenty seven years. He was a member of the Aimwell Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Batiste Moran Powe, his mother, Mathilda Roselee Enterkin Powe; two brothers, Larry Powe and Nick Powe and his sister Ethel Lee Mele
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his son Jerry Douglas Powe, JR (Susan) of Grayson; grandson Caire' Powe (Shannon); great grand daughter Cairre Nickole Powe all of Princeton, West Virginia; three sisters, Cecil Burrman, Joanne Andrews (Ronald Andrews) and Billie Clary; his brother, Melvin Powe and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Caire' Powe, Pat Mele, Ricky Powe, Cody Brown, Logan Cooper and Terry Parker. Honorary pallbearers include Mark Andrews and Robert Dannehl.
