Funeral services for Mr. Jerry ONeil Barnette, age 74 of Columbia, will be 2 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbia with Rev. Daryl Floyd and Rev. Brian Rankin officiating and Charles McGuire delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 PM to 9 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia and again Wednesday at the church from Noon until time of service. Mr. Barnette was born in Caldwell Parish on October 17, 1935 to the union of Bythel Barnette and Cecil Ray Barnette and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. Jerry was a member of Olla Pentecostal Church where he served as Music Director for the last eight years. His musical talents and abilities spanned several southern states where he sang in a Southern Gospel Group called Stamps Quartet. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Betty Jarbow Barnette and sister; Doris Barnette. Survivors include his wife; Mildred Garner Tucker Barnette, son; Steve Barnette and wife, Denise of Columbia, two step-sons: Bryan Tucker and special friend, Trudy of Gonzales and Curt Tucker and special friend, Teresa of Gonzales, three daughters: Debi Cobb and husband, Eddie of Lewisville, TX, Cindi Martin and husband, Greg of Brookhaven, MS and Tami Flores and husband, Shannon of Brandon, MS, step-daughter; Pamela King and husband, Bill of St. Joseph, LA, brother; Virgil Barnette and wife, Catherine of Haughton, LA, sister; Yvonne Russell and husband, James of West Monroe, seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charles McGuire, Charles Alger, Bryan Tucker, Curt Tucker, Dustin Barnette, Crosby Barnette, Mark Moody and Bill King. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Strange, Everette May, Quinton May, Rick Richmond, Rev. Alan Hatten and Rev. Gary Montpilier.
