Jerry Banes

Funeral services for Jerry Banes, age 52 of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, July 2, 2015 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Olla with Bro. Jimmy Piercy officiating. Interment will follow at Urania Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Riser Funeral Home, Olla from 10 AM until time of service at 2 PM. Mr. Banes was born on October 29, 1962 in New Orleans, LA to the union of his parents and passed from this life on June 28, 2015 at Citizens Medical Center, Columbia, LA. He worked many years building cellphone and communication towers. He enjoyed raising his chickens and Catahoula Cur dogs. He was known for saying, "carry on the dawg pound." He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Ray Banes. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Becky Woodruff Banes of Columbia; mother, Annie L. Banes Peppers of Rosefield; sons: Zach Banes and wife, Emma of Strong, AR and Josh Finley of Olla; daughters: Randi Roberts and husband, Ahren of Wisner and Charli Simons and husband, Jeremy of Grayson; brothers: Benjamin Ray Banes of Tullos, Carl Benjamin Banes and wife, Della of Spearsville, Timothy Wayne Banes and wife, Gwenee of Spearsville and Benny Lynn Banes of Urania; sisters: Angel Hawkins and husband, John of Ferriday and Misty Peppers and husband, Benny of Rosefield; grandchildren: Tara Morgan Roberts, Dakota Bliss Simons, Aleigha Marie Finley, Destinee Blaise Simons, Dru Brees Simons, Teagan Marie Roberts, Solomon Rose Banes and Scarlett Nova Banes; and close friends: Gabe Hatten and Wayne Walton. Pallbearers will be Nathan Pettit, Wayne Walton, Bo Banes, Bobo Banes, Jay Banes, Logan Banes, J.C. Banes, Joey Delancy, Eric Nugent and Jeffrey Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabe Hatten, Ahern Roberts and Jeremy Simons.
