Funeral services for Janie Louise Whitten Young will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Bro. Joe Williams officiating and interment at Roberts Cemetery in Grayson, LA. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Janie Louise Whitten Young was born June 29, 1962 in Monroe Louisiana to the union of her parents, Vester Hines Whitten and Lucy Maureen Newsom Whitten and passed from this life June 23, 2023 at Citizens Medical Center. Janie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lane Whitten; and her sister Tina Rogers. Janie was a sweet, fun loving person who loved her family, and animals. She loved cooking, hanging out with her friends, talking and laughing. Janie lived life to the fullest. She was a true friend and a great person.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenny Young; step-daughters: Rena Young and April Butler; brother, Leo Smith; sisters: Lavada McIlwain and Fraley Frith; grandchildren: Sydney, Audrey, and Emi; her fur-babies: JJ and Dixie; as well as a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Head and Citizens Medical Center for the care they showed Janie.

Pallbearers include Charles Oxner, David McIlwain, Logan Whitten, Scooter Arnold, Chris Arnold, and Marvin Stevens. Honorary pallbearers are Leo Smith, Bradley Stevens, Carl Cornwell, Kevin Young Sr, and Kevin Young Jr.
