Janice Marie Smith

Funeral services for Janice Marie Smith, age 78 of Grayson, LA will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, LA with Bro. Denver McBroom officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson. The family will have a visitation at the funeral home on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 5 PM until 7 PM.

Janice Marie Cook Smith was born September 18, 1942 to the union of her parents, Oscar Cook and Alma Green Cook Smith, and she passed away at her home in Grayson on August 20, 2021. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dog-mom. She loved spending time with her family but her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and arranging flowers. She loved Pekingese dogs and raised many through the years. They were her babies and were always special to her. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, and two sisters: Lucille Taylor and Zillie Lilly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Darwin "Pete" Smith; daughter, Lori Hillman; sons: Larry Warren (Tanya) and Petey Smith (Sally); her sister, Yvonne White; grandchildren: Mistie Newtson (Brett), Breeze Wu, Angel Wilson (Michael), Jana Warren (Brad), Madison Hatten (Dustin), Toni Taylor (D'Angelo), and Harleigh Warren (Ryan); sixteen great-grandchildren; and her little dog, Jada.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jamey May, Dustin Hatten, Jason Maxwell, Clark Franklin, Bobby Hutto, and Joey O'Neal.
