James Sidney Peel

Memorial service for Jame Sidney Peel (Sonny) age 84 of Hebert will be held at Hebert Methodist Church on May 19th at 11 am.  Graveside to follow at Hebert Methodist Cemetery with family.

James Sidney Peel was born on October 12th, 1938 in Skene Mississippi to Wayman Peel and Marcia Mildred Owens and he passed from this life at his home in Hebert, Louisiana on May 10th, 2023 following a short illness.

Proceeded in death by his parents Wayman Peel & Marcia Mildred Owens, sister Nell Williams (Woody Williams) and great nephew Sam Bass.  He was a loving son, brother and uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He dedicated his life for over 50 years to teaching.  He started in Morgan City, Louisiana, traveled to Mississipppi, then to Pennsylvania where he later retired and moved to Florida.  His passion was traveling overseas teaching foreign languages for many years.  He had recently moved back home to Hebert LA, to be with family before passing.

Left to cherish him is his sister Nadine Carver; brother Clint Owens (Lori); nieces and nephews Bonnie Bass, Steve Duchesne, Charles Smith, Joe Smith, Anita Sonnier, Christy Owens,  Heather Owens Suthrlen, Aaron Morales, Seth Morales, Kolby Owens and Kandi Owens.  Numerous great nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his beloved dog Levi that meant the world to him.
