Funeral Services for James "Buck" Legg Sr., will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA, with Bro. Warren Maxwell and Bro. Shane Duke officiating and interment following at Welcome Home Cemetery, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Riser Funeral Home, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

James "Buck" Edward Legg Sr., was born November 8, 1942, at home in Clarks, LA to the union of his parents, Richard Legg and Vergie Whittington Legg. He left this life December 26, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones. James was known to most people as Buck, yet he answered to many names. Names like Daddy, Brother, Son, Paw, Pop, Papaw, Buckpaw, and Buckster to name a few. He was a jack of all trades, working on the pipeline for thirty years, building contractor building houses as well as a police jury member for one year. Everyone loved to hear him play the piano. It was nothing to find a group of people singing and playing music at his home. He passed his love of music on to his children as well.

James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy Legg and Donald Legg; and a sister, Betty Word. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Loraine Head Legg; his son, James Edward Legg Jr. (Kathi), of College Station, TX, Heath Legg (Kacey) of Columbia, LA, and daughter, Misty Cassels (David) of Hot Springs, AR; brother, Larry Joe Legg of Diamondhead, MS; as well as his sister-in-law, Diane May Legg of Clarks, LA. He adored his family and loved more than anything his grandchildren and extended family, including his grandson, Christopher Legg (Haley); granddaughters: Morgan Cassels, Lauren Cassels, and Elizabeth Legg; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Gatewood and Cooper Delancey. He was Pop to Wendy Jackson of Florida and Papaw to her children, Corey, Courtney, and Elijah.

Pallbearers will include Christopher Legg, Mike Nappier, Storm Nappier, Ridge Nappier, Lance Legg, James Allen Girod, and Jimmy Bond. Honorary pallbearers are Mitch Bratton, Steve May, Vernon McMillon, Jimmy Ratcliff, and Wayne Nelson.

Special thanks to all the physicians and nurses over the years that took care of him. Very special thank you to Lana Sanders and Linda Smith for being everything we didn't know we needed.
