James (Jimmy) Horace Holland
Jimmy was born March 4th, 1938 in Weiss, Livingston Parish, Louisiana to Arthur Leroy Holland and Minnie Helen Wesley. He passed peacefully at his home Saturday January 17th, 2021. His early days were spent in Baton Rouge Louisiana where he grew up hunting, fishing, and camping in the bayous. When he wasn’t exploring the bayous Jimmy ran for the track team at Istrouma High school, played intramural softball, and became a leader in the Boy Scouts.
Jimmy joined the USAF in 1956, where he continued on with his love of softball as he played shortstop for the Air Force team. He served diligently on a base in Korea.
After the Air Force he attended LSU. Where he met the love of his life, Lodusta (Dusty) Elizabeth Specht. They married June 3, 1961 and later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they raised twelve children. Jimmy loved working hard and playing hard. As a father he spoiled his daughters, raised his sons to be respectful, and taught all his children how to work.
Jimmy worked on the North Slope in Alaska with oil rigs as a Motor Electrician. He was very mechanically handy, loved spending time working on cars with his children and building everything he could. He eventually owned his own Construction Company. His dedication and hard work was a great example to his children and grandchildren - he never slowed down.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife; Dusty, his parents, daughter Janice Hansen, son-in-law Paul Jordan, grandson Jordon Keaton, granddaughter Randi Jordan, brother-in-law John (Tinker) DeLage, sister-in-law Gaynell Holland, and niece Donna Silvio.
