Funeral services for James Denison will be held at 2:00 PM, December 28, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Bennett officiating, Bro. Roger Johnson along with Bro. Bobby White assisting. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
James Denison was born April 16, 1938, in Locust, Louisiana to the union of his parents, George Denison, Sr. and Lessie Curl Denison, and he passed from this life, December 22, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana, after a brief illness.
James was a proud member of Fellowship Baptist Church where his favorite son-in-law pastors. He loved his family and attended everything he could. He enjoyed attending Louisiana Tech football games and especially watching his baby girl in the band. James enjoyed traveling to Mountain View, Arkansas, tinkering on his tractor, gardening, and his million trips to Dukes Hardware. He enjoyed rodeos, and took pride in telling the younger cowboys to chase their dreams. In James's earlier years, he rode bulls, was a bull fighter and a rodeo clown. He loved sitting on his porch in his rocking chair, drinking coffee with his cookies and being Paw James to some very special little boys.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy Baum Denison; brothers: George Denison, Jack Denison, Lynn Denison, and Pat Denison; sister, Mavis Denison; four infant siblings; and his father and mother-in-law, Orbin and Eva Baum.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jana Kay Bennett and son-in-law, Chris Bennett; granddaughter, Leslee Bennett; and his sister, Rachel Denison.
Serving as pallbearers are Kolby Owens, Caleb Duke, Elvis Phillips, Heath Denison, Jeff Denison, and Jonah Varner, as well as a host of honorary pallbearers.
