James Isaac Cupples

Funeral services for James I. Cupples, age 97 of Olla, Louisiana will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2016 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, 4823 Hwy. 165, Olla, Louisiana with Pastor Robert McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Chickasaw Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM, Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Riser Funeral Home, Olla, Louisiana. James was born January 16, 1919 to the union of Viola Jones Cupples and James Wiley Cupples. He passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Haven Nursing Center, Columbia, Louisiana. He was a lifelong resident of Olla, Louisiana. He proudly served his country in the Navy from October 1, 1940 until April 15, 1960, serving actively during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lonnie Cupples, Clarence Cupples, Macile Cupples, and Adrian Cupples; sisters: Anna C. Cruse, Chloe C. Johnson, and Ola C. Nichols; and nephew, Charles W. Cupples. Mr. Cupples is survived by his sister, Dottie Sciortino of Gonzales, Louisiana; 13 nieces and nephews; and many lifelong devoted friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike McCartney, Richard Andrews, Wayne Gilliam, Roy Callender, Eddie Coolman and Mike Kirkham. Honorary pallbearers include Alton Gilliam, Roy Smith, Jeffrey Zeagler and Joe Cruse.
