James Earl Cruse

Funeral services for James Earl Cruse age 80 of Olla will be held at  1:00 PM Thursday August 3, 2023 from the Olla chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Bignar officiating. Interment will follow in the Harris Chapel Cemetery at Olla. The Cruse Family will receive visitors on Thursday beginning at 10:30 AM and continuing until time of service.

James Earl Cruse was born on February 10, 1943 at Harrisonburg, Louisiana to the union of his parents  Alfred Lankston Cruse and Lessie Mae Purvis, and he passed from this life on Monday July 31, 2023 at his residence in Olla following an extended illness.

Mr. Cruse was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, John Cruse and his sister, Mary Lou Womack. and one great-grand daughter Jasmyn Kendrick. Mr. Cruse loved fishing and spending time with his family. Throw in a cup of coffee and the fellowship would begin. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty one years Rubie Bonnett Cruse of Olla, two sons, Elbert Cruse (Angela) and James Lee Cruse (Tiffany) of Olla; three daughters, Teresa Bignar and Rev. Dennis Bignar of Florien, LA; Mary Ann Carpenter (Kevin) of Trout and Sarah Terrell (Jamie) of Standard; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Meshell, Jacob Burch, Little Richard Stevens, Gary Hyde, Thad Porter and Stevie Proffer. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Cruse and her family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to St. Josephs Hospice, and a special thank you to Meghan and Katelynn, and Jalisa and Frederick who handled all of their equipment in the home during Mr. Cruse's illness. We will never forget your love and sacrifices made.
