Funeral services for James Russell Carnahan, JR age 73 of Grayson will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday February 11,2020 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. C.R. Martin officiating. Carmen Head will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be held on Monday February 10, 2020 at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165 Columbia, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
James Russell Carnahan, Jr was born on August 20, 1946 at Shreveport, LA to the union of his parents James R. Carnahan, SR and Rachel R. Butler Carnahan and he passed from this life on February 7, 2020 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother-in-law: Terry Joe Allen. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shreveport but attended the Outreach Baptist Church locally. He was a member of the American Legion, Fire Chief of the Grayson Volunteer Fire Department . He served in the United States Army in the First Air Calvary Division in Vietnam.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife: Ruby Allen Carnahan; his son: James Russell Carnahan, III (Kelsea) and his daughter: Kristy Ann Carnahan (Cody); his grandchildren: Ashley Harrison, Zachary Hicks, Justin Hicks, Kenlee Rentz, Karlee Carnahan and James Russell Carnahan IV; and one great grandchild: Grayson Reppond; his mother in law, Nan Allen brothers in law: Kirby Allen (Diane), Eugene Allen (Sheri), Chris Allen (Holly), Robert Allen (Ruby) and Jim Bill Allen; sisters in law: Sonja Allen and Beth Eden (Richard).
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Stamper, Rodney Temple, Chris Wyles, Jay Hearn, Jimmy Gaylor, Adam Simons, Caleb Duke and Ed Malcomb. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be the Grayson Volunteer Fire Department.
