Funeral services for Mrs. Jackie Blane Cossey, age 69, of Grayson will be held 2pm Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from the sanctuary of Old Bethel Baptist Church, at Clarks; with the Rev. Floyd Duchesne, and Rev. Keith Thomas officiating. Steve Barbo will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Cemetery at Grayson, with services under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday October 23, from 5pm until time of service Wednesday. Jackie Blane Cossey was born on December 31, 1942 at Hodge, LA to the union of her parents, Lotus Blane "Jack" Cossey and Jessie Mae (Lowery) Cossey. She passed from this life on Sunday October 21, 2012 at her residence, following a long, but courageous battle with cancer. Jackie worked all of her life as a dedicated Nurse and Medical Technician, serving as Office Nurse for Dr. Harry H. Winters, MD, at the Winters Clinic in Columbia; and later in her life as a Medical Technician at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. Several of Jackie's most favorite things in her life beside her beloved family, was her house, her flowers, her yard, and animals and their welfare. She was a perfectionist, as it showed in her skill of her culinary skills in her kitchen, and everything else in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sons, Kevin Weeks and Stacey Weeks, by her grandson Corey Weeks; and by her sister Jeanette (Cossey) Howard. Jackie was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are, her beloved sister, Frances "Tennie" Hatten of Avinger, Texas; her son, Eric Weeks of Grayson; one grandson, Caleb Weeks of Columbia; her niece, Kada Howard, nephews Jerry Hatten, Gene Hatten, Earl Hatten, Dennis Hatten, and Gary Howard; and two grandchildren. Jackie was also blessed with three wonderful friends who enriched her life, Myrtis Meadors, Reba Meredith, and Joyce King. She also leaves her precious Yorkie, Binky. Serving as pallbearers will be, Gene Hatten, Dennis Hatten, Kada Howard, Cody Hatten, Blaine Cobb, and Craig Roark. Honorary pallbearers include Caine Howard, Dennis Hatten, Jr.,and Dusty Cooley.
