Ingvil Anton Hillestad

Funeral services for "I.A." Hillestad, age 104 will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Bro. Jack McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service from 11AM until 1 PM.

Ingvil Anton Hillestad was born January 22, 1919, in Kelly, Louisiana to the union of his parents, Anton Hillestad and Sally Eula Grant Hillestad, and he passed peacefully from this life on December 18, 2023, at Haven Nursing Home in Columbia, LA. I.A. lived a long, full life. He was always a hard worker. He owned and operated Hillestad Feed and Seed, farmed, landscaped, logged, but his favorite job of all was farming hogs. I.A., aka, "PawPaw Pancakes", enjoyed fishing and made lots of memories doing so. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Milks Hillestad; daughter, Kayleen Benson; brothers: S.L. Warner, Cecil Hillestad, Willard Hillestad, and Wilbur Hillestad; and two sons-in-law: Glynn Benson and Roy Tharp.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shirley Tharp; son, Roger Hillestad (Flo); grandchildren: Darrin Hillestad (Robin), Dana Roshto (Bruce), Tammy Beck (Dale), Steve Hillestad (Shannon), JJ Hillestad, Eric Benson (Crystal), Monica Stuart (James), Tommy Tharp (Tami), Carol Powell (Lynn); great-grandchildren: Josh, Charlie, Joelee, Trinity, Trey, Tori, Coal, Kade, Kylee, Ayden, Lynzee, Eric, Dallas, Reece, Aydyn, Madison, Emma, T.D., Thomas, Mallorie, and Laney; and great-great-grandchildren: Evan, Jase, Noah, Braxton, Maddox, Harlow Bloom, Emmalee, Easton, Karson and Elliot.

Pallbearers include Darrin Hillestad, Steve Hillestad, JJ Hillestad, Tommy Tharp, Lynn Powell, and Eric Benson.

The family would like to give thanks to Haven Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Mr. Hillestad while he was there.
