Funeral services for Ineida Christine Harveston, age 98, of Grayson will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2023, from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Her son-in-law, Bro Wayne Baum will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery at Clarks under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Harveston family will host visitation on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Cross Roads Baptist Church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Mrs. Harveston was born May 30, 1924, in Linden, Texas to her beloved parents, the late Lewis P. Holland and Willie Pearl Hall Holland. She was preceded in death by her brothers: O'Neal Holland, Lavelle Holland, Preston Holland and Dean Holland; her sisters-in-law: Flonnie Holland and Peggy Ann Holland; her son, Blake E. Harveston, Jr.; her granddaughters, Bridgette Harveston and Charity Reed.
Ineida was a remarkable lady with many talents. She owned and operated several businesses throughout her life along with raising twelve children. She was known for her fudge square brownies which were a best seller in her drive-in restaurant. However, her grandchildren say it was her chocolate oatmeal cookies that no one could match.
She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, singing hymns, dancing, and preparing meals for her family. She found great joy in sharing her poems with her Ladies Sunday School class at Old Bethel Church. In her later years, she became a self-taught artist and signed all of her paintings with “I Believe” to reflect her faith.
Ineida, fondly known as Mama, Grandmother, Gmom, Sister, Neta, and Dee-dee, had a way of making all of her family and friends feel special. She had a kind heart, a quick wit and a contagious laugh.
Ineida was a strong woman of faith who chose to pray instead of worry. She loved to share her story of coming to Christ at age eleven and being baptized in a duck pond. She faithfully prayed for her family and her greatest desire was that one day they would all spend eternity with her in Heaven.
At age ninety-four, it became necessary for her to have sitters. She accepted this with joy and loved each of the ladies that stayed with her. The family greatly appreciates them all. There were three special angels that were her constant companions until she went to be with Jesus. There are no sufficient words to thank Joyce Reynolds, Audra Nelson and her granddaughter, Hilary.
Ineida is survived by her brothers: Gene Holland and Curtis Holland (Jerri Sue); her sisters-in-law, Brenda Holland and Peggy Holland; her children: Darrell Harveston (Ellen), Dolores Spindler (Gary), Sharon Young (Bobby), Terry Hall (Johnny), Denise Baum (Wayne), Dwanna Baker (Bobby), Lanette Reed, Andrea Shindler (Paul), Kevin Harveston, Jan Mancil and Robin Nelson (Buddy); her daughter-in-law, Robin Harveston; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
