Graveside services for Iley Hobson "Bucky" Butler, Jr., age 90 of Grayson will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Winnfield City Cemetery, Winnfield, LA with Rev. Rick Crandall officiating.
Mr. Bucky was born on July 16, 1923 in Clarks, LA to the union of Iley Hobson and Mattie Russ Butler and passed to his eternal home on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. He worked and retired with the LA State Forestry Service. He served with the Navy during WWII earning the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Bucky was a proud member of his community having served as the Mayor of the Town of Grayson for twelve years. He was a member of Grayson Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howell Butler; sister, Virginia McKeithen and granddaughter, Courtney Butler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 69 years, Jewel Genae Hyde Butler of Grayson; son, Jerry Butler and wife, Beth of Columbia; brother, Ron Butler and wife, JoAnn of Beaumont, TX; sister, Barbara Jean Simpson and husband, Fred of Livingston, TX; granddaughter, Blair Mosser and husband, Dale of Rhome, TX and great-grandson, Brady Mosser.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Wallace, Randy Hatten, Scott Meredith, Eugene Dunn, Cliff Murphy, Jamie Duff and R.E. Perot.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made, In Memory of Courtney Butler, Athletic Training Education Scholarship, c/o Louisiana College, 1140 College Dr, Box 587, Pineville, LA 71359.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Operario, Linda Garrett, Haven Nursing Center and Haven Rehab for their kindness, care, concern, support and love given to Bucky and the family during his illness. Your considerations were noticed and greatly appreciated.
