Huey Martin

Funeral services for Mr. Huey Martin, age 72 of Clarks will be held 10AM graveside Monday October 5, 2009 at the Harris Chapel Cemetery at Olla with the Rev. Kenneth Nethery officiating. Services are under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia where visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5 to 8PM . Huey Pierce Martin was born September 28, 1937 at Kelly, LA to the union of his parents Elijah Martin and Minnie Eva McDaniel Martin. He passed from this life on October 2, 2009 following an extended illness. He was a loving husband, father, and paw paw. He was a retired carpenter and a longtime resident of Denham Springs. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the United Church of God. He was a 1955 graduate of Kelly High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Eva Belle Gore, Willie Mae Gore, Juanita Cupples, and Margie Shoemaker; also his brothers: Howard L. Martin, Willard Martin, Boyce Martin, and Jimmy Martin. Survivors include: His wife of forty-seven years: Carol Horn Martin. His daughter: Lisa Cummins, son: Michael P. Martin and wife Teresa. Grandchildren: Brandon Long, Sara Ann Martin, Anthony Cummins, Shanna Cummins, and Chera Cummins. Great-grandchildren: Brandon D. Long, Dylan Long, and Blake Long. Sisters: Mary Lou Turner, and Ruth Hudspeth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
