Services for Mrs. Henrietta Emilie King Tannehill, age 80 of Urania, will be 10AM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Elsie Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Urania Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Olla from 5PM to 7PM. Mrs. Tannehill was born in Winnfield on April 2, 1929, the oldest of seven children born to Cary Sr. and Lillian Chromchak King and passed from this life on Friday, July 17, 2009 at her residence. She graduated from Urania High School in 1946 and continued her education at Louisiana Tech in Ruston where she graduated in 1950 with a degree in Home Economics. In late 1947 Mrs. Tannehill met William "Billy" Morris Tannehill and they married in 1948. Thirteen years and three children later she began her teaching career at Urania Elementary, where she was assigned to teach fifth grade, retiring in 1994, after teaching for 31 years. Mrs Tannehill was loved by all her students, many of whom would call or stop by to visit after reaching adulthood. She loved the outdoors and would spend many hours manicuring her lawn and was well-known in the community for this, her immaculate housekeeping and her love of Lenox collectibles. She and her husband, Billy loved to travel and she would often use these trips to add to her collections. Mrs. Tannehill was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 60 years, William M. Tannehill. Survivors include her son; Steve Tannehill and wife, Pam of Olla, two daughters: Inez Fragala and husband, John of Archibald and Janet Matter and husband, Terrell of Choudrant, seven grandchildren: John William Fragala, Tyler Fragala and wife, Mandy, Emily Ivy, Stephanie Richmond and husband, Matt, Prentice Tannehill, Jeffrey Matter and William Matter, two great-grandchildren: Macie Ivy and Caden Fragala, two sisters: Sarah Stott and Carolyn Wood, four brothers: Michael King, Richard King, Carlton King and Cary King, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
