H.M. "Skeeter" Vickers

Funeral services for H.M. “Skeeter” Vickers, age 82, of Olla, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Shady Grove Baptist Church west of Olla with Bro. Jesse Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church. Services are under the direction of Riser Fueral Home of Olla. Skeeter was born August 5, 1934 to the union of Hugh C. and Blanche Taylor Vickers in Sikes and he passed from this life on September 19, 2016 at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was a Deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from the Louisiana Rural Water Association and he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Linda Carter; his parents; brother: Glenn Roy Vickers; daughter-in-law: Peggy Vickers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Bobbie Vickers of Olla; son: Steve Vickers of Olla and special friend Becky Shell of Sikes; grandchildren: Eric Carter, Justin Carter, Randy Carter and his wife Paulette, Timmy Vickers and his wife Victoria, and Ryne Vickers; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Hannah, Brock, Johnny, and Jimmy Carter. Pallbearers will be Patrick Crader, Rusty Reeves, Chris Bronson, Jesse Smith, Denny Boyett, and Owen Gauthier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Smith Hopkins and Joe Johnson.
