Funeral services for Juan Gustavo "Gus" Alaniz will be held 12:30 PM, Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church in Monroe, LA with Sis. Cherish Peppers officiating and Ricky Baker assisting with interment at New Light Baptist Cemetery in Monroe, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:30, Sunday, June 11, 2023, until time of service at 12:30 PM.
Gus was born June 24, 1935, in LaJoya, Texas to the union of his parents, Jose Alaniz and Macaria Gonzalez Alaniz, and he passed from this life at Haven Nursing Home in Columbia, LA following a brief illness. Gus was a rambler and lived life to the fullest. He worked hard and played even harder. Gus was a Jack of all trades but had a heart of gold. He farmed, raised cattle, trained horses, and could fix anything he wanted. Gus would also help anybody he could and never complained or expected a dollar in return. In his down time he enjoyed hanging out, listening to music, and spoiling his Chihuahua "Bimbo."
Gus was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bobbie Alaniz; his sister, Tina Tarver; his brother, Arturo Alaniz; and his son-in-law, Jack Tanner. Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Wanda Tanner, and Sonya Kennon (Jeff); his brother, Joe Alaniz (Maxine); his sister-in-law, Olivia Alaniz; grandchildren: Mitch Charrier, Kevin Charrier, Cherish Peppers (Jason), Lindsey Alaniz, and Cole Kennon (Megan); great-grandchildren: Aiden Charrier, Kaleena Charrier, Griffin Peppers, Eli Peppers, Peyton Peppers, Gracee Goodman Audrey Goodman, Emori Goodman, Kylee Kennon, and Zaylee Walker.
Pallbearers include Mitch Charrier, Art Alaniz Jr, Jason Peppers, and Jeff Kennon.
