Funeral services for Glenda Mae Pierce, age 83 of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 15, 2022, from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church, Hebert with Bro. Jimmy Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. The family will host a visitation on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Glenda Mae Pierce was born in Columbia, LA on October 16, 1938, to the union of her parents, Howard Arnold Shipp and Nina Tolbird Shipp, and she passed away on July 12, 2022, at Legacy Nursing Center, Winnsboro, LA after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jimmy Dale Kirby; brothers: Jerry Shipp and Ray Shipp; great-granddaughter, Madison Kirby; and granddaughter-in-law, Marsha Kirby. Glenda worked for many years as an EKG Technician at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a talented seamstress and loved working in her yard. She enjoyed Marengo Swamp, squirrel hunting and fishing. She was a good grandmother and adored her grandchildren. Glenda was a people person and got along with everyone. She always enjoyed visiting with friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Roger Kirby (Tammy); daughter, Renae Morris; brother, Fred "Pete" Alan Shipp (Billie); sister, Janice Louise Harper; grandchildren: Brandon Lee Kirby, Jarrod Flores (Amanda), and Logan Edwards (Jackie); great-grandchildren: Haley Brooke Allen (Lowell Cherneski), Braylyn Grace Kirby, Hailey Smith (Zach), Hannah Claire Knox (Jordy Campbell), Hunter Dell Flores, Bryer Kate Flores, Allen Edwards, Anna Grace Edwards, and Abbigail Edwards; great-great-grandchildren: Jace Smith and Weslan Blake Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews, and her grand-puppy, "Hopper."
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice for being so good to Glenda in her final days and also, Legacy Nursing Center for their care.
