Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Lorraine Richmond McLain, age 79 of Columbia, will be 3PM Friday, August 21, 2009, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Donald Woods officiating and Mr. H. L. Brown delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5PM to 9PM. Mrs. McLain was born in Hebert on November 10, 1929 to the union of Jessie Thomas and Bedie Agnes Taylor Richmond and passed from this life on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a member of Living Church of God and a retired CNA with Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Verna Mae Denison and two brothers: Elvin Richmond and Maurice Richmond. Survivors include her husband of 60 years; James "JD" McLain of Columbia, daughter; Sherry Bates and husband, Rube of Kelly, son; Danny McLain and wife, Sharron of Columbia, two sisters: Myrtis Stapleton and husband, Chesley of Kelly and Myrtle Sanders of Columbia, seven grandchildren: Jamie Bates, Vanessa Bates, Dennis McLain, Angela McLain, Brandy Mills, Melissa McLain and Brandon McLain, seven great-grandchildren: Brooke Bryant Arceneaux, Brittany Bryant, Bryan Bryant, Dylan Mills, Joshua Mills, Hunter Murphy, and Alexis Ausberry and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jamie Bates, Dennis McLain, Brandon McLain, Dylan Mills, Bill Richmond and Tim Richmond. Honorary pallbearer is Johnny Haddox.
