Gladys Hester Madden

Graveside funeral services for Gladys Hester Madden, age 90, of West Monroe will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 25 at the Cross Roads Cemetery at Grayson under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation with the Madden Family will be on Tuesday from 12 Noon to 12:50 PM at the funeral home in Columbia. Gladys Hester Madden was born on March 17,1926 at Grayson, LA to the union of her parents, Luther J. Hester and Mattie Watson Hester and she passed from this life on October 22, 2016 at the Ridgecrest Nursing Home in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted Madden; her son, Teddy Madden; and her grandson, Teddy Madden. Mrs. Madden was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe. She was an avid quilter and had made quilts and baby quilts for all her family members. Gladys was a very loving and caring person, always nearby to help those in their time of need. She was loved dearly by family and friends alike and will be sorely missed. Left to cherish a life time of memories are her three daughters: Gloria Ann Fryer (Jerry) of Winchester, Kentucky, Betty Johnson (Larry) of Monroe and Jane Draper (Benny) of Atlanta, Texas; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
