Funeral services for Gilbert Beebe Lovelady, Jr., will be held on Tuesday, August 14,2012 at 10 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church , 1740 Hwy 133, Hebert, LA., under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 5-9 p.m. , at Bethany Baptist Church, 1740 Hwy 133, Hebert, LA. "Punk" as he was known by to his family and friends was born in West Monroe, LA on May 13, 1917 to the union of Gilbert Beebe and Bertha Phillips Lovelady and passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Ridgecrest Nursing Home in West Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, wife Ellen Lovelady, brother and sister-in-law Milton and LaNell Stephenson, sister-in-law Vernice Stephenson, half-sister Ethel Lawrence and several aunts and uncles. Punk worked for and retired from L.J. Ernest Road Construction. He was a member and a Past Master in the Masonic Lodge #164 in Columbia, LA. He is survived by his children, Bertha Lovelady Kamarainen and husband Lee, West Monroe, LA., Gilbert Beebe "Gil" Lovelady, III and wife Linda, Columbia, LA., Dwight Lovelady and wife Brenda, Hebert, LA., Rita Lovelady Fuller and husband Gary, Monroe, LA., Kay Lovelady Bowlin and husband Wayne, West Monroe, LA., Scott Lovelady and wife Ann, Columbia, LA. , 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Fletcher Stephenson, Crossett, AR. Punk was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Hebert, LA. If you knew him you loved him. He was very funny, always had a great story to tell, always had something going on. He was recently featured in "The News Star" talking about how things have changed since his birth. He loved his family and friends very much and always looked forward to their visits. He will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be grandsons Gil Lovelady, Terry Lovelady, Kyle Whitehead, Dee Lovelady, Drew Lovelady, Parker Pierce, Rick Bowlin and cousin Roger Lovelady. Honorary Pallbearers are Wiley Kelly, Benny Washam, Robert Washam, Billy Joe Poole and Billy Jones. A special thank you to the staff of Ridgecrest Nursing Home and Steve Barbo and the staff at Citizens Medical Center for taking care of our daddy all these years.
