Gerald Glinn Whittington

Funeral services for Gerald Glinn Whittington, age 80 of Grayson, Louisiana, will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, LA, with Bro. Joey Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery. The family will have visitation on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the funeral home from 5 PM until 8 PM.

Gerald was born June 8, 1943 in Clarks, LA, to the union of his parents, George Lacy Whittington and Mildred Cotten Whittington, and he passed from this life on February 10, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following a brief illness. Gerald worked at Louisiana Pacific as a millwright for most of his career. He loved life, was out-going, loved to talk, and never met a stranger. He inherited a coin collection from his father and from that he got the bug to collect coins as well. He loved sharing the coins he found with his children and grandchildren. He loved and adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings who died at an early age. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Marilyn Scribner Whittington; his daughter, Jennifer Massey (Ray); sisters: Reba Thomas (Danny), Judy Fitzgerald, and Johnnie Brister; grandchildren: Allison Crochet (Tyler), Autumn Massey (Brian Melancon), and Wyatt Massey; great-grandchildren: Natalie Crochet and Trenton Crochet; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Wyatt Massey, Brian Melancon, Harrison Lewellyan, Tyler Crochet, Joshua Massey, and Ashley Thomas.
