Funeral services for Mr. George Rodney Mullenix, age 45 of Columbia, will be 10AM Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Stuart Sherman officiating. Interment will follow at Hebert Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be Monday evening at the funeral home from 5PM to 9PM. Rod was born in Columbia on February 26, 1964 to the union of George and Shirley Garner Mullenix and passed from this life on Saturday, September 26, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Hebert United Methodist Church and had worked as a lawn care serviceman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Wesley Mullenix, maternal grandparents, Charlie and Rosa Lee Garner, paternal grandparents, Porter and Cecil Mullenix and two uncles; JV Garner and Wilbur Garner. Survivors include his parents; George and Shirley Mullenix of Hebert, brother, Scott Mullenix and wife, Lori of Hebert, two nieces; Lori Leigh Mullenix and Kristina Ballard and husband, Ryan, three great-nephews; Wesley Canterberry, Drake Canterberry and Brody Ballard, uncle, Ernest Garner and wife, Marie of Belton, MO and many cousins. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Garner, Walter Garner, Ryan Ballard , Travis Brooks, Tim Mullenix and Donald Womack.
