Gary Lee Poole, age 61, was born July 23, 1959 in Olla, LA to the union of his parents Howard Poole and Sherlene Rodgers Herrington. He passed from this life peacefully at home December 7, 2020. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Tommy Poole.
Those left to cherish his memory are his step-mother, Mary Poole, brothers; Charles Poole and wife, Debbie; Steve Briscoe and wife, Reba; Paul Briscoe and wife, Dee; sisters; Dianne Childress and husband, Tony; and Janey Saul and husband, Michael. Gary also left behind an aunt, Ellie Huddleston, and uncle, Drexell Rodgers and wife, Pat along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Gary loved hunting, fishing, football, family and just being outdoors. He was the number one fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and loved the New Orleans Saints. There was always a story about the “big” buck he brought home and the even “bigger” fish that got away. He spent many hours with his daddy and brothers fishing on Cheniere Lake and the memories they made are priceless. He loved to make you laugh and playing jokes on his brothers and sisters was one of his greatest joys. Gary was so very proud of his many nieces and nephews, he loved them dearly and always enjoyed the time he spent with them.
After graduating from high school in Caldwell Parish, Gary enlisted and served many years in the Navy and Naval Reserves. He traveled the world serving and protecting our country. He put himself through college and medical school and became a Nurse Practitioner working at his own clinic in southwestern Arkansas. We, his family, are so extremely proud of Gary’s service to our country and it’s citizens both while in the Navy and as a Nurse Practitioner.
Gary, missing you in our hearts, in our lives and loving you always.
“Our joys will be greater, our love will be deeper, our life will be fuller because we shared a moment with you”
A memorial service will be held at a later time.
