Garry Lee "Sonny" Brodnax was born to Edward Lee Brodnax and Nancy Lucille Moore Brodnax in Many, LA on December 24, 1932, and he passed from this life on October 8, 2023, at the North Monroe LA War Veterans' Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ineta Poole Brodnax; brothers, Richard P. Gorum and K. Reginald Gorum; and sisters, Mattie Brodnax Longley and Laura Gorum Jakeway.
He is survived by his son, Robert "Bobby" Poole of Olla, LA; daughters, Debbie Poole of Olla, LA and Beverly Byrd of Laurel, MS; and one sister, Annah Farina.
Sonny served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. He loved his family and was so proud of their accomplishments. Anyone who knew Sonny, knew that he had one hobby and that was "work." He spent many years working in the oilfield and could build a drilling rig from the ground up by himself. Sonny could diagnose an automobile problem in 30 minutes and could repair almost anything that had a motor on it. After retiring from the "oil patch" he started a logging business and operated it until a stroke sidelined him from actively working. Although he could no longer drive a truck or run the business, he could sure tell his family how it needed to be done. His knowledge and advice will certainly be missed.
Pallbearers include, Jared Richardson, Bradley Poole, Bradley Eubanks, Brayden Eubanks, Dillon Ford, and Devin Ford. Honorary pallbearers include Kenny Black and Austin Eubanks.
