Funeral services for Elton Lee Pitman age 80 of Grayson will be held 2PM Thursday October 15,2009 from the Rosefield Baptist Church at Rosefield, with the Rev. Harrell Tucker and Rev. David Mc Guffee officiating . Burial will follow in the Rosefield Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. The Pitman Family will receive guests on Wednesday evening at the church from 5 to 9pm. Elton Lee Pitman was born on April 2, 1929 at Delhi, LA to the union of his parents ,Willie Leo Pitman and Hattie Mae (Duke) Pitman. From his early years he had a love for horses and cattle , and this played a role in his life, actually breaking horses for others and being a cattleman. He was also a aircraft mechanic, and a mechanic with the Caldwell Parish School System. He was a decorated Veteran of the Korean War and was honored with the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He was an active member of the Rosefield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his daughter: Ruth Ann Carter, brother: Obie Pitman, and by his sister Avice Sikes. Survivors include: wife of 57 years: Anna Ruth Pitman of Grayson. Daughters: Linda McGee and husband Mike of West Monroe; and Sharon Roberts of Bebe , AR . Sisters: Gracie Roberts of Olla, Waymel Smith of Houston, Eunice Hudson of Mer Rouge, and Virginia Womack of Siloam Springs, AR . Grandchildren: Stacey Pitman, Shaun Meredith, Kim Winn, Lea Anna Collinson, Jessica Daily, and Melissa Fife. Eleven great- grandchildren, and Great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers include: Scott Winn, Dustin Head, Phillip White, Stacey Pitman, Gary Tucker, and Drew White. Honorary pallbearers will be G.L. Cruse, Mike McGee, Murrell McGuffee.
