Funeral services for Edward Nathan Basco will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 27, 2024, from the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, LA. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday, from 1 PM until 3 PM, at the funeral home.

Edward Nathan Basco was born November 30, 1959, in Homer, LA, to the union of Leon Basco and Helen Alexander Basco. He passed from this life on October 24, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. Nathan was a man of many interests. He enjoyed shooting and working with guns, especially pistols. He was a former National Champion in pistol shooting. He worked at Spotted Dog Sporting Goods for 21 years as a gunsmith. He enjoyed interacting with his customers there. Prior to this Nathan worked at Ward's Chevrolet as a Master Mechanic and was a former Deputy Sheriff with Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He was always active in his children's lives. He was a Past President of the CPHS Quarterback Club and Dixie Youth program. He adored his grandbabies and was affectionately known as Papaw and Pappoo. Nathan was a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed by friends and family alike. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Basco.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Tracy Barrett Basco; his mother, Helen Basco; his children: Jessica Basco (Stephen), Nathan B. Basco (Jania), and Alex Basco; brothers: Steven Basco (Cindy) and Tommy Basco (Sharon); grandchildren: Jadyn, Gavin, Korbin, Tristan, Emsley, Lander, and Leonidas; daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Hamel; and his beloved dog, Sweet Pea. 

Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Braddock, Gavin Braddock, Korbin Braddock, Tristan Braddock, Lander Basco, Leonidas Basco, Jeff Caskey, past and present employees of Spotted Dog Sporting Goods, and past and present Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs of Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office.
