Funeral services for Edna Bamburg Shipp will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 7, 2020 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, LA with Sister Kristi Dunn officiating and Eugene Dunn assisting. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Hebert, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 6, 2020 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home and again Monday from noon to 2 PM prior to the service.
The family requests that everyone please wear Saints or LSU gear if you have any.
Edna was born March 19, 1942 and passed away December 4, 2020 after a brief illness. She was dietary manager at Columbia Developmental Center, where she worked for many years before retiring. She was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and she loved LSU football too. She also loved basketball and fishing. She loved her family and was so proud of her grandkids and their accomplishments. She enjoyed watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play sports. She attended every game she could. She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Shipp and her life partner, A. W. Cruse; her mother, Florence "Granny Chicken" Ellis Bamburg; her father, Thomas William Bamburg; her brothers: Arnold Bamburg, Ezrial Bamburg, Robert Bamburg and Ivy Bamburg; her sisters: Ruby Powell, Bea Shipp, Francis Smith, Myrtle Garner, and Katie Gough, and by her precious dog, Tink.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Darrell Shipp (Kim); daughter, Renea Wells (Jeff); sister, Helen Foster; brother, Tommy Bamburg; grandkids: Heather Dunn (Curt), Clay Shipp (Jessie), Nikki Smith (Ryan) and Paige Deason (Kyler); great-grandkids: Blaise, Gump, Baby Boy, Ava, Carson, Maddox, Audrey and Waylon, and her best friend, Bobbie Gunn.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Tucker, Tommy Howard, Max Howard, Jackie Harris, Robert Cubbitt and Clay Shipp. Honorary pallbearers are Curt Dunn, Eugene Dunn, Blaise Dunn, Gump Dunn, Blayne Dunn, Ryan Smith and Kyler Deason.
