Edgar Jeter

Funeral services for Edgar Jeter, age 85 of Olla, will be 2PM Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Bro. Jack McKeithen and Bro. David McGuffee officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Rosefield. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Olla from 5PM to 9PM. Mr. Jeter was born in Winnfield on March 16, 1924 to the union of Benjamin Franklin and Laura E. Bruce Jeter and passed from this life on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Winnfield Nursing Center in Winnfield. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World Fraternal Society. Mr. Jeter served with the Merchant Marines. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Edna Mae Barton Jeter and four brothers: Grover Jeter, Madison Jeter, Benjamin Jeter and Elsi Jeter. Survivors include his daughter; Trudy Jeter Day and husband, Thomas of Maurepas, brother; Felton Jeter and wife, Joyce of Olla, two grandsons: Joseph Jeter and wife, Vickie of Olla and David Day of Maurepas, great-grandson; Joseph Madison Jeter of Olla, two special nieces: Hulene Price of Winnfield and Earlene Meadows of Mooringsport and numerous other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Joseph Jeter, Glen Henderson, Eual Douglas, Jr., Alex Nino, Randy Douglas, Eric Keesler. Honrary pallbearers will be Eual Douglas, Sr., Huey Busby, Don Price, Delmer Meadows and Bill Taylor.
