Dorothy Day Tradewell

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Day Tradewell, age 98 of Jena, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 23, 2022, from the Olla chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Roark officiating. Interment will follow at Jena Cemetery, Jena, LA. The family will hold visitation prior to the service at the funeral home in Olla from 8 AM until service time at 10 AM.

Dorothy Day Tradewell was born in Rosefield, LA, November 13, 1923, to the union of her parents, Malicie Ford Day and John Howard Day, and she passed from this life June 20, 2022, at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, LA. Dorothy was an active member of Rosefield Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending. She worked at the offices of Dr. I. C. Turnley in Jena for half a century. She was well known and loved by generations of families they cared for through the years. When Dorothy was not working she loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She especially enjoyed hosting family reunions. She also enjoyed quieter times, front porch talks over coffee and watching a pretty sunset. She was a dedicated member of the Ruby Chapter of the Eastern Star. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 49 years, Woodrow W. Tradewell; sons, Larry Kent Tradewell and Gary Brent Tradewell; infant daughter, Alonda Kaye Tradewell; and infant sister, Altha Lucille Day.

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandsons, Tony Tradewell (Darla) and Timothy Tradewell (Annie); great-grandchildren: Amber Brevelle, Morgan Tradewell, Megan Tradewell, and Marshall Tradewell; and one great-great-grandchild, Brooklyn Brevelle.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marshall Tradewell, Tony Tradewell, John Duke, and Michael Tradewell.
