Dorothy Mae McClain, 85 of Columbia, fell asleep in death Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Haven Nursing Center. She was born February 19, 1937, to parents Mary Marbly Smith and Hebert Esaw.
Dorothy had a great love for people, as a result she was loved by many. It was common for her name to come up in conversation and someone relate a positive, encouraging experience they personally had with her. Dorothy was a special person who will be truly missed by all who knew her well.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-two years, Isaiah McClain; and granddaughter, Meagan McClain; sisters: Pinkie Smith, Louvonia Marbly Davis, and Gloria Smith Griffin; brothers: Kouncil Smith, Jr. and William Smith.
Dorothy is survived by two sons: Costaes (Karlyn) and Darryl (Berthina); her daughter, Mineola (Will) Minger; sisters: Dessie Morrison and Willie Boone; brothers: John Smith and Percy Smith (Anita); sisters-in-law: Vercie Smith and Leann Smith.
Grandchildren: Darryl Jr, Gabriel, Kelsey, Ciara, Logan (Shonta), and Jada McNeil, Natoshia Bozeman (Bill), Misty Carter and Larry Norris, Jr; great-grandchildren: Cullen and Sagan McClain; a special son, James Williams; a special niece, Lucy Washington; and a large spiritual family she loved as her own. She was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a special nephew Morris.
Memorial service to be held at 12:00 PM on November 5, 2022, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Olla, located at 4787 Hwy 165.
