Doris Laird

Funeral services for Doris Davis Laird, age 94 of Olla, will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla, LA with Bro. Shadd Tibbs officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Riser Funeral Home, Olla, LA. Mrs. Laird was born on August 25, 1921 in Olla, LA to the union of her parents: Roland Daniel Davis, Sr. and Charity Shirley Davis and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Doris loved her God, her family and other people. She was a homemaker who held hobbies in quilting, bowling and playing Peke-no. She was a member of Standard Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R.R. "Stick" Laird; siblings: Roland D. Davis, Jr., Charity "Pet" Tisdale, Dewey Davis, Lois McAdams and Dorothy Jane Allbritton. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronnie Laird, Sr. and wife, Hazel of Olla; daughter, Sue Giesecke and husband, Dennis of Henderson, TX; grandchildren, Ronnie "Ron" Laird, Jr., and wife, Brandy, Robert Lynn "Rob" Laird and wife, Patty, Brad Giesecke and wife, Marianne, Kevin Giesecke and Mark Giesecke; great-grandchildren: Ronnie "Jed" Laird, III, Sierra Brooke Roark, Sidni D'Lane Laird, Holly Lynn Laird, Megan Lynn Laird and Meredith Giesecke. Pallbearers will be Ronnie "Ron" Laird, Jr., Ronnie "Jed" Laird, III, Brad Giesecke, Kevin Giesecke, Mark Giesecke and Mike Gough. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Lynn "Rob" Laird. Any planned memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Shriner's Hospital. We want to thank LaSalle Nursing Home for the many years of loving care they have given mother, adding sunshine to her day, they were her extended family. Thank you to Guardian Hospice Care for making mother's last days more comfortable for her and her family.
