Don Davis, 80, of Grayson, Louisiana passed away on June 9, 2022.
Don was born on July 25, 1941 in Rapides Parish. He was an educator for 30 years in Tensas Parish, Adams County Mississippi, and Caldwell Parish serving as a teacher, coach and administrator. He was also well known for his cooking and catering at Mr. Butts BBQ.
Don was a faithful Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and he loved to sing bass in the choir. He was an active member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church. Don loved basketball, hunting, storytelling and a good cup of coffee.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; daughter Tammy Gutierrez; daughter Pam (Bryan) Eason; four grandchildren, Ben (Presley) Vanderslice, Haley Eason, Caleb Eason, and TD Gutierrez. He is also survived by a sister Sue (Conley) Manning, and brothers Joe (Jeanette) Davis and Sonny Davis. He had numerous nieces and nephews and extended family Bobby and Kelly Strong and their two daughters, Rivers and Blayne.
Pallbearers are Denva McKeithen, John McIlwain, Kenny Anderson, Jack Morgan, John Manning, Danny Childress, Randy Childress and Clint May. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Childress, Ricky Copeland, Conley Manning, Jim Wood, and his Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be Friday, June 10, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Columbia Heights Baptist Church.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Columbia Heights Baptist Church.
Interment will follow the service at Columbia Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbia Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
