Donald Ray Blake, age 71 of Columbia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 7, 2012 at his home in Columbia. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 from Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Tony Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Blake Cemetery in Olla. Donald was born September 30, 1940 to the union of his parents Roy P. and Aro Holmes Blake in Urania. Donald was a retired truck driver of 30 years. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and spoiling his grandchildren. Donald was a friendly, kind, loving man that never met a stranger. He enjoyed his life to the fullest. Donald was preceded in death by his father: Roy P. Blake; two brothers: Kenneth and R.D. Blake; son: Johnny Ray Blake; grandson: Donald Wayne Blake. Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Lavenia Poole Blake of Columbia; his mother: Aro Holmes Blake; two sisters: Sallie Lowery of Olla; Frances Spence of Urania; three daughters: Donna Street of Georgia; Valerie McCain of Oklahoma; Penny Blake Street of Tullos; two sons: Lee R. Blake of Olla; Quitman Blake of Georgetown; 32 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joshua Smith, Rob Laird, William Hyde, Phillip Sons "Sleepy", Chad Callendar, and Jonathan Street.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Spence, Keith Street, Randall Blake and Steven Blake.
