David Earl Jones

Funeral services for David Earl Jones age 81 of Olla will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday October 20, 2021 from the Olla chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Denver McBroom and Bro. Greg Bellew officiating. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday October 19, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Olla.

Mr. Jones was born on November 19, 1939 at Fort Necessity, Louisiana to the union of his parents, Cleve Jones and Onnie Killingsworth Jones and he passed from this life on Sunday October 17, 2021 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his beloved wife, Dorothy Hatten Jones; one daughter: Brenda Scott and one son: Phillip Scott ; his brother: Jimmie Lee Jones and three sisters: Nellie Rizzo, Barbara Daugherty and Mary McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Tori Thames. David loved fishing, camping, yoyoing and gardening. He loved riding around and visiting with everyone. He was a very giving person. He loved watching football and especially the New Orleans Saints. He also loved his dogs, Oscar and Pete.

Left to cherish his memory is his sons: Timmy Jones (Teresa) of Shreveport and Wayne Scott of Olla; his daughter: Kim Thames and husband Hoopie of Grayson; three sisters: Bonnie Poole (Clifton) of Olla, Betty Lou Jordan of Winnfield and Jinnie Craig of West Monroe; and his beloved grandchildren: Taylor Thames , Tanner Jones, Amy Bradley, Trevor Scott, Tori Scott, Tony Cruse, Corey Bordelon and Kaili Bordelon; his great grandchildren: Iris Lawrence, Casen Talley, Blane Bradley, Cameron Scott, Asher Scott, Colby Cruse and Lisette Cruse.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Harter, Michael Lee McDaniel, Shane McDaniel, Adam Barton, Jerrod Douglas, Denny Finley and Ricky Harris. Honorary pallbearers include Hollywood Douglas, Buddy Poole, Clifton Poole, Ikey Harris and Bobby McCartney.
