Mrs. Newsom was born in, and grew up in Tullos. She graduated from Urania High School and later attended beauty school. She worked in her beauty shop for 30 years in Tullos, where she gained the friendship of so many of the women of Tullos and surrounding area. Mrs. Cordie loved to fish, and did so any time someone would take her. She loved to do embroidery work and often gave her beautifully-stitched handiwork as gifts to those persons she loved and cherished. Mrs. Cordie was known as "the story teller". She entertained young children throughout her years with her vivid and colorful stories. But her main love was her love of her precious Lord. She was very faithful in her church attendance, and it was very seldom that she ever missed a service.
The Newsom family would like to thank her home health nurses who checked her regularly. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Bryan Smith, her doctor, who patiently worked with her until the time of her death, and to the entire medical staff at the Hardtner Medical Center.
