Claude Barham Dearmon was born in Urania, LA on August 25, 1944, and died at his residence in Urania on November 27, 2021. Claude was the youngest child born to William Edgar and Eliza Anna Dearmon.
Claude's mother passed away when he was five so he spent his younger years being raised by his father, step-mother, and other family members in Urania and Winn Parish. When he was in the eighth grade, he went to live with his sister, Merle Thornton and her family in Urania. She made sure that he graduated from LaSalle High School in 1963. While in high school, he met Patricia Howard. They were high school sweethearts, married in 1964, and celebrated fifty-seven years of Marriage on June 12, 2021.
Claude worked for Bruce Gough Pipeline and Urania Lumber Company before working for Louisiana Pacific and Georgia Pacific as a plant supervisor for forty-four years. He retired in 2008. Nothing was more important to Claude than his family. He spent his retirement years caring for family, maintaining his home and yard, and occasionally going fishing or mowing at the camp.
Claude was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Brent Dearmon; his parents; his sister's and their spouses: Annie Mae Woodward (C.W.) and Deane Chandler (Paul) and brother-in-law, Bobby Thornton. Also, all of his brothers and their spouses: Jewel (Lessie Mae) Dearmon, Doris Dearmon (Annie Mae), Lawrence Dearmon, Leon Dearmon (Myrle), and Eddie Dearmon (Maxine).
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Michele Thompson (Rickie); and sister, Merle Thornton; also grandsons: Landon (Mandy) Thompson, Tandy Thompson, and their children, Luke and Emmaline and Lila and Truett. He is survived by special brothers-in-law: Charles (Valerie) Howard and Curtis (Mandy) Howard and their families. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on the Dearmon side and many friends.
Claude was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be fellow church members: Mike McCartney, Ricky Gould, C.H. Boyd, Tim Clark, Jeff Farrar, and Brian DeVaux. Honorary pallbearers will be all the other men at Pine Hill and neighbor, Johnny Hinton.
In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Pine Hill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 886, Olla, LA 71465.
The family would like to thank Claude's care team at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and his oncologist Bassam Abi-Rached and his care team at Hematology Oncology Life Center in Alexandria, LA. Also a special thanks to all the friends and family who have supported us thru Claude's seven month battle with cancer.
