Charles Boyd Douglas

Funeral services for Charles Boyd "Charlie" Douglas will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2023, at Riser Funeral Home in Olla, LA with Bro. Joe Lowe officiating with interment following at Old Bethel Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Charles Boyd Douglas, known to those who loved him as Charlie, died peacefully on October 18, 2023, in Monroe, Louisiana at the age of 64 with his wife by his side.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Tonda; his children, Tara Douglas of Olla, Steven Douglas (Ann Peyton) of Pontotoc, Mississippi, and Nicole Long (Todd) of Urania; his grandchildren, Ali, Kinsey, Landry, Will, his namesake Charles Maddox, and his new granddaughter who is due next week, Emma Kate; his older brother, Eual Douglas and younger brother Rod Douglas, both of Olla. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Eual and Betty Douglas, of Olla.

Charlie was born on May 7, 1959 in Monroe to the union of Eual Douglas and Betty Ruth Free Douglas. He graduated from LaSalle High School and worked offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and eventually overseas, in places like Indonesia and Africa until his retirement.

Charlie married Tonda Smith on October 20, 1979. He became a father to her daughter, Nicole and they went on to welcome two children of their own, Tara and Steven. Charlie and Tonda would have celebrated 44 years of marriage this month. Some of Charlies's favorite hobbies included playing golf, riding his Harley, working in the yard, swimming, spending time watching his grandchildren play their chosen sports, watching football in his recliner surrounded by his beloved pets, and his daily coffee runs with his brother, Hollywood.

Pallbearers will include Jerrod Douglas, Trey Douglas, Tom Douglas, Landon Phillips, Steven Smith, and Randy Borchard. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Gilcrease and Roy Cain.

We are so thankful that our beloved husband, father, Pop, brother will be restored to health in Heaven. The family would like to thank the staff at Azalea Estates of Monroe for their loving care, especially Brooke, Deborah, Porsche, and Vonda.
