Homegoing services for Catherine Mullins Ostteen, age 91 of Columbia, will be held at 10 AM Monday, October 17, 2016 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia with Bro. Eric Harriman officiating. Interment will follow at Burroughs Garden of Memories.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Riser Funeral Home from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Mrs. Ostteen was born on June 8, 1925 in Columbia, LA to the union of her parents, Fulton C. Mullins and Alice G. Wilson Mullins and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Ostteen was a homemaker, who was devoted to the care and love of her family. She was known for her work at the Martin Home Place and was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, V.H. Ostteen; grandson, Luke Scroggs; brothers: Conway Mullins, Guy Mullins and Lee Roy Mullins and son-in-law, Marion B. “Buddy” Scroggs.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betty A. Scroggs; brother-in-law, J.V. Osteen; sister-in-law, Ida Mullins; grandchildren: Dewaine Brewer and wife, Dana, Jennifer Strickland and six step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren: Meagan, Judson, Lucas and fifteen step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Allen Brown, Larry McManus, Willie Hines, Monty Adams, Jr., Randy Stroud, Shannon Ostteen, John Austin, Dub Ostteen and Derek Stroud. Honorary pallbearers will be The Salt Group Sunday class.
