Bonnie Muriel Benson McDonald

Funeral services for Bonnie Benson McDonald, age 89 of Kelly, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 22, 2022, from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Aguillard officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery at Clarks. The McDonald Family will receive visitors on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

Bonnie Benson McDonald was born on September 21, 1932, at Clarks, LA to the union of her parents, Elvis Benson and Edna Reitzell Benson and she passed from this life on July 20, 2022, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Charlie McDonald; her son, Chuck McDonald; her sister, Effie Jean Benson; her brother, Tom Benson; and son-in-law, Michael Fonda. Bonnie was a wonderful momma and you could always depend on what she said. She loved family time especially spending time with her grandkids and great-grandchildren. She loved watching the birds and squirrels. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish a lifetime of precious memories is her son, Mike McDonald (Jan); her daughters, Brenda Fonda and Donna Dortch (Raymond); her daughter-in-law, Kathy McDonald; her grandchildren: Daniel, Dusty, Logan, Derek, Tyler, Koby, Sonja, Mandy, Susie and Sherri; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Crosser, Dusty McDonald, Logan Dortch, Derek McDonald, Tyler McDonald and Koby Dortch. Honorary pallbearers include Red McDonald, Jeremy Carter, Kevin Barnhill and Edward Lamb.
