Bonnie Hurst

Bonnie Mae Hurst, age 77, of Clarks passed away on 4, August 2014. She was born to the late Dave R. Allen and Eva Honeycutt Allen on May 23, 1937. Bonnie attended Columbia High School and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University, where she majored in Elementary Education. She taught at Houma Elementary and in the Caldwell Parish School System for 43 years. She was an active member in the Clarks Community and served on the town council. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia. Family, friends and flower gardening were Bonnie's passion and delight. She grew up in Columbia with her two sisters, Marie and Katie. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Major Jerre T. Hurst and her sister, Marie McClanahan. She is survived by her sister, Katie Mae Gregory;two sons, Jerre Allen Hurst and his wife Joyce Hurst, and Christopher David Hurst. Her grandchildren are, Stella Rose Hurst, Michael Allen Hurst, David Allen Hurst, Joshua Hurst, Chelsea Hurst, Liam Hurst, a very special niece , Debra Lynn Hyde who was like a daughter to her, her brother in law, James Hurst of Dallas, Texas, and her four nephews, Shane Hyde, Dave Cobb, Blaine Cobb, and Ronnie Hurst. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. A special thanks to Pankaj Shroff, Dr. Russell Cummings, Jr., the nurses and staff of Citizens Medical Center and the Haven Nursing Center for the wonderful care and kindness they gave to our mother during her illness. Funeral arrangments are being provided by Riser Funeral Home where the service will be held in the Riser Funeral chapel at 10:00 am Thursday August 7, 2014 with burial to follow in the Old Union Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Wednesday August 6, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers include Jeff Cobb, Blaine Cobb, Tristan Hyde, Joshua Hurst, Mitch Bratton, and Clay Bennett.
