Funeral services for Billy Wallace, 86 of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday March 2, 2017 at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Bro Shane Duke, Bro Tommy Nelson, and Bro Bruce McGee will be officiating. Graveside service will follow at Columbia Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1st from 5-8 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Billy was born September 24, 1930 in Vicksburg, MS and passed peacefully from this life February 24, 2017. He served our country in the US Navy with the SeaBees during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he met and married JoAnn Anderson. Billy was a retired logging contractor and loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. After accepting Jesus as his savior, Billy spent the rest of his life serving the Lord. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher; and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Wallace; mother, Lola (Arthurs) Wallace; sister, Jean Isbell; niece, Diana Griffin; and nephew, Donald Wayne Wallace. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, JoAnn Wallace; sons: Jim Wallace (Surmartha) and Bob Wallace (Lori); grandchildren: Chad Wallace (Heather), Kyle Wallace, Dale Wallace (Courtney), Lora Walker (Zach), and Jaime Wallace; great-grandchildren: Cade Wallace, Lola Walker, Caroline Wallace, and William Wallace; brother, Donald Wallace (Mary Ann); sisters: Betty Jo Griffin (Jim), Doris Holloway, Barbara Ann Wallace; along with many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chad Wallace, Kyle Wallace, Dale Wallace, Dan Wallace, Richard Hudson, Drew Keahey, Denva McKeithen, and Jeff Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be the Board of Directors of Homeland Bank, employees of Spotted Dog Sporting Goods, Billy Floyd and the crew at Floyd’s hunting camp, Hartwell Riser, Gerald Childress, Darrell Delcoure, JM Duplissey, and Paul Douglas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Billy’s favorite charity. The family would like to thank the staff of the Haven Nursing Home in Columbia for their compassion and care.
