Billy Joe May

Billy Joe May, age 79 of Columbia, Louisiana, was born February 2, 1942 in Cottonplant, LA to the union of his parents, Joe Melton May and Annie West May, and he passed from this life May 1, 2021 at Columbia, LA. Billy worked for many years as a log truck driver. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. As he got older, he left the deer hunting behind and focused his time and energy on fishing. When he wasn't fishing, he was usually hanging out at NAPA with friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shawn May Skyles (Alvin); his son, John Melton May; sisters: Sandy Murphy (Cliford) and Marie Childress (Kenneth); grandson, Derek Barton; special friends:Chris Strickland, Duke Wallace, and Kay Ellerbe; as well as, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will hold a visitation on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia from 4 PM until 7 PM. A eulogy will be delivered at 6:00 PM by Andrew Tant. Honoring Billy's wishes, the family has lovingly chosen cremation for final disposition.

Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Barton, Andrew Tant, Don Tant, Clif Murphy, Teddy May, Bud West, Duke Wallace, and Chris Strickland.
