Billy Bassett

Funeral services for Billy Lyn Bassett, age 56 of Grayson, will be 2 PM Sunday, January 3, 2010, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jason Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Little Star Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the funeral home from 5 PM to 9 PM. Mr. Bassett was born in Monroe on June 13, 1953 to the union of Emril "Bud" Bassett and Carrie Dale Walters Bassett Grant and passed from this life on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at his residence. He was a mechanic. Billy was preceded in death by his father, brother; Robert Bassett and step-brother; Leon "Red" Grant. Survivors include his wife; Billie D. Basset of Grayson, mother; Carrie Dale Grant and husband, Johnnie of Holum, two sons: Chris Bassett and wife, Rachel and Justin Bassett both of Holum, three brothers: Larry Bassett and wife, Melany of Pistol Thicket, Ricky Bassett and wife, Kelly of Holum and Mike Bassett of Columbia, step-brother; Maurice Grant of Holum, three sisters: Gayle Dortch and husband, Jimmy of Columbia, Joyce Price and husband, Jerry of Holum, Mary Mercer of Grayson and step-sister; Carolyn Maxwell of Holum, three grandchildren: Michael Bassett, Kaitlyn Bassett and Chelsea Bassett and thirteen nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Bassett, Justin Bassett, Matthew Braddock, Jody O'Bier, Justin Carr and Michael Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Taylor, Jeff White and Randy Wilson.
