Funeral services for Betty Sue Lewis, age 78 of Grayson, will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, Louisiana, with Rev. Taro Autman, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Oakley Cemetery, Gilbert, LA. The Lewis Family will have a visitation at the funeral home on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Betty Sue Lewis was born on June 26, 1945, to the union of her parents, the late Simmie Lewis and Magnolia Evans Lewis. She departed this life for her heavenly home on May 22, 2024, after an extended illness. Betty was a member of Evening Star Baptist Church and she was very active with the Council on Aging. She was a very gregarious person who was a social butterfly. She loved to go and do when her health was good and she was able. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Charles Edward Lewis, James Kelly Lewis, Leroy Lewis, Joe Henry Lewis, and John Earl Lewis; three sisters: Simmie Mae Autman, Vera Mae Martin, and Dorothy Marie Byas; and a grandson, Brannon Lee Lewis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Travis Lewis (Sondra) of Augusta, GA; daughter, Christie Williams of Grayson; one brother, Jessie Lewis of Jolliet, IL; five sisters: Eloise Emerson of Monroe, Carolyn Ann Scott of Jolliet, IL, Alice Lewis of Glen Burnie, MD, Jeanette Lewis of Grayson, Elaine Lewis Curry, of Grayson, and Hazel Lewis of Columbia; two grandchildren: Travis J. Lewis II and Shianne Lewis, both of Augusta, GA; in addition to a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Charleston, Ricky Moffett, Aaron Elliott, Curtis Byas, Jeffrey Howard, Matthew Ashley, and Jerome Byas. Honorary pallbearers are Edwin Lewis, Jessie Lewis, Dillon Lewis, and Travis J. Lewis II.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr Randy Head, Steve May, the Haven, Citizens Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital, and nurse, Ashley Rogers for the love and care they have shown to Betty in her final days.
